APS Group is helping 40,000 volunteers make protective clothing for frontline NHS staff by supplying them with the printed patterns needed to sew medical scrubs together.

The marketing services provider is working with For the Love of Scrubs – a campaign set up by A&E nurse Ashleigh Linsdell – to help redress the shortfall in scrubs and PPE experienced by medical workers during the Covid-19 epidemic.

The designs supplied by APS Group form part of the kit that will enable campaign members to produce the protective equipment for doctors and nurses returning to the frontline at the Countess of Chester Hospital. APS Group has produced several A0 pattern designs to guide the small army of volunteer tailors.

James Lawton-Hill, marketing director at APS Group said: ‘‘As soon as we heard about the campaign, we knew we wanted to help. With so many former doctors and nurses now returning to the NHS, the need for medical clothing is at an all-time high.

‘‘To have played even a small part in helping to support those on the frontline is a great feeling. For the Love of Scrubs is a brilliant initiative and a prime example of how people are pulling together during an incredibly difficult time.’’

The For the Love of Scrubs campaign’s Facebook Group has amassed more than 40,000 members and raised more than £30,000 through its JustGiving page.
